Who made LooScout.com?
Hi there đź‘‹,
My name is James and you can find me @james.
I build the occasional bit of software here and there - but my real focus is on improving usability and creating things that feel lightweight and easy to use.
One thing I noticed with existing toilet map websites is that many of them feel clunky, old, or outdated. With LooScout, I wanted to do something different; a modern design paired with a slightly gamified experience that makes contributing and exploring a bit more fun. That’s also why we run campaigns: they help us populate new areas quickly while we’re still growing.
Some people ask why we don’t just use an existing database. The truth is, sometimes we do. Some entries come from our bot contributors and community members who collect and publish information quickly. Even so, every submission still goes through our verification process to make sure it meets our baseline quality standards before appearing on the site
